TRAINING INDUCTION PROGRAM

The Action for Skills Knowledge Education and Wellness Center ASKEDWELL Center, is provided with TESDA Training for Work Scholarship ( TWSP) and the Skills Training for Livelihood Assistance (STLA) programs.

The courses offered as per Certificate of Program registration are : Animal Production NC II, Horticulture NC II, Driving NC II and aquaculture NC II. These courses are integrated to provide holistic development of farmers in the community.

The recruitment of participants to the training posed a great challenge to the Center as there were initially no takers or enrolees to the program. The organizers took almost three months to gather a few participants to the training as most of the people in the community have not finished high school. Barangay  Bongdo is a community in northern part of Cebu .The people are mostly marginalized farmers with low educational attainment.

We appreciate the timely action of the TESDA Regional Director in considering the Training Regulations as basis in the selection of trainees as most participants are at elementary level. There are senior citizens and a few indigenous people living in the area and are basically not interested in going to a school which is approximately  five (5) kilometers from their residence.

The Barangay Leaders, through the Council, support the Training Delivery mode of Technology-based community Training for Rural Development. Recognition of Prior Learning and Competency-based Training Method in a peer-learning setting. Learning Stations are set-up in many areas of the barangay to provide access to the learners in sharing knowledge, information and over-all marketing of agricultural products.
