EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF THE IMPLEMENTATION

OF THE AWARDS AND PRIZES OF THE TILAPIA FESTIVAL

The Tilapia Festival was conceived with the intention implement the agri-fishery based rural development program for Barangay Bongdo by the leaders of Barangay Bongdo, Borbon, Cebu, endorsed by the Municipality of Borbon and provided with financial assistance from the Province of Cebu.

The leaders of the community supported the program for its long term effect on food security and preparedness for calamities due to climate change.

The PURPOSEs of the program are:

1. ENCOURAGE THE BARANGAY HOUSEHOLDS TO RAISE TILAPIA IN THEIR BACKYARD

2. ADVOCATE THE USE OF TILAPIA AS PROTEIN FOR PLANTS AND ANIMALS

3. ADVOCATE THE USE OF TILAPIA AS PROTEIN ENHANCER TO VEGETABLES

These purposes are translated into action and activities that correspond to its goals. As this tilapia festival is conducted on this date September 13, 2014 in conjunction but done separately with the cultural –religious celebration of Barangay Bongdo, it has added an educational and fun component to the celebration.

This Tilapia Festival is the first of a series of activities of the barangay as it endeavors to rise from the devastation brought about by Typhoon Yolanda. The organizers believe that in the next few years, the Tilapia Festival as implemented in the Barangay on September 13, 2014, will become a major milestone in the development of Barangay Bongdo.

The local and community leaders have identified competitions, which can help achieve the goals of the project and provided with prizes and awards to the winners.

The winners are hereby listed , endorsed and approved by the Barangay officials as the project is barangay based and under the administration of the Barangay Executives. Also indicated in this report is the expression of support of the community to plan for next years’ Tilapia Festival.

“A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE REPORT OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE TILAPIA FESTIVAL WITH PRIZES AND RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO ENSURE FOLLOWUP AND OUTCOME OF THE TILAPIA FESTIVAL AS A DEVELOPMENT PROJECT OF THE TYPHOON YOLANDA RAVAGED BARANGAY OF BONGDO, BORBON CEBU”

WHEREAS, Barangay, Bongdo received a fund from the Provincial Government of Cebu for assistance to the TILAPIA FESTIVAL;

WHEREAS, there is need to rehabilitate the agricultural condition of Brgy. Bongdo, Borbon, Cebu;

WHEREAS, the implementation of the project was differed due to the disaster brought about by Typhoon Yolanda and the project fits rehabilitation and development program of the Barangay;

WHEREAS; the TILAPIA FESTIVAL was implemented on September 13, 2014 and accepted by to community as a good development project and provided fun to the barangay residents;

NOW THEREFORE: Upon motion presented and will adopted by the majority , be it;

RESOLVED, as it is hereby RESOLVED that this REPORT ON AWARDS AND PRIZES OF THE TILAPIA FESTIVAL by the Committees in masse involved in the project is hereby approved ;

RESOLVE FURTHER, to submit a proposal to the Provincial Government through the Municipal Government for a follow-up and a continuing training support to achieve the Goals and Objectives of the Tilapia Festival

Guest speaker Provincial Treasurer Mr. Emmanuel G. Guial took time to pose with Barangay Officials Kagawad Alexander Cole, Kagawad Eliezer Mondoniedo, Engr. Roseller Balaod and a Community leader. A simple parade followed to start the Tilapia Festival.

Tilapia Pospas Eating Contest provided fun to the Festival after partaking of the Tilapia Pospas and the trial activity on Chicken boxing over tilapia
